Hi! I’m Phuc Nguyen

I’m a graduate student in Computational and Systems Biology at Washington University in St. Louis.

My current research interests:

  • Computational methods for functional genomics, gene regulation, and multi-omics data analysis: I am particularly passionate about modelling gene regulatory mechanisms using computational tools and identifying novel biomarkers.

  • Statistical Genetics: I am currently exploring population genetics, analyzing genome-wide association studies results to identify causal variants, prioritize causal genes and discover novel disease pathologies.

  • Perturbation modelling: In the long run, I would like to further explore the causal effects of gene variants to cells, measured by gene expression, epigenetic signals, and cellular responses to drugs.

I owe my great gratitude to the advisors that have given me opportunities to work on amazing research projects. These include Dr. Miraldi, Dr. Weirauch, Dr. Huang, Dr. Luna, Dr. Prasath, Dr. Sotiras, and Drs. Kowalewski and Haney.

Besides the academics, I’m an avid chess player.
